Creating unique content is always a difficult task for me. I do know that "not so great" content is better than no content. And even though I know "better" now, I don’t always have time to implement what I’ve learned.
My new "discovery" is article databases! Webmasters are selling hundreds of categorized articles that can be dumped into a mysql database and then converted to html. With an article database and script combo I could actually add hundreds of pages to my handbag site which will eventually be selling fashion accessories.
The question that I ask myself: "Will I end up creating spammy sites and forget my website’s true focus?
Scotty Claiborne wrote an excellent article giving detailed examples of what is crappy (bad) and what is not crappy (good). She describes good content as tools and resources that are useful to visitors. Who cares about the history of your widgets? Do your potential customers need to know the history of sterling silver jewelry before they buy a silver charm bracelet?
